Why We Built Ambassador

Summary

Every operator knows the calls that never stop. Here’s why we built Ambassador to answer them in seconds and save your team for the calls that need judgment.

Where do I pay?

How much is a monthly permit?

Which entrance is open right now?

If you run a parking operation, you’ve heard these questions hundreds of times. Probably this week. Parker Technology’s CSRs have heard them too, across more than 13 million motorist interactions on behalf of parking operators.

That’s a lot of listening. And it taught us something. Most calls follow the same few patterns, and callers spend too long waiting on answers that should take seconds.

So, we built Ambassador, an AI agent for parking that answers the routine calls and gets a person on the line when the call needs one.

The Calls That Eat Your Day

Each question is simple. Stack them up, though, and they fill phone queues, pull staff away from harder problems, and keep callers on hold.

The timing makes it worse. University parking offices get buried during enrollment and move-in. Hospitals feel it at shift change. And after hours, there may be no one around to pick up at all.

Then there are ghost calls. A button gets pressed, the line connects, and nobody’s there. Your team still has to answer every one.

How much of your team’s day goes to calls like these?

Why Callers Keep Shouting “Representative”

Everyone knows the phone tree. Press one for permits, two for citations, and if your question doesn’t fit the menu, start over.

Keyword menus helped a little. But, the caller still must bend their question to fit the system.

So people learned to say “representative” as fast as they can.

In parking, that frustration costs more. Picture a driver stuck at a gate with a line of cars behind them. Or a nurse trying to leave a hospital garage at 2 a.m. Neither one has patience for a menu.

AI agents come with their own baggage. Operators have told us they worry an agent will sound robotic, misunderstand the problem, or trap callers in a loop.

Those worries are fair. They shaped every decision we made.

Four Principles Behind Ambassador

We wanted an agent that understands plain language, answers from your rules, and brings in a person the moment it should.

It answers based on your rules. Ambassador works from the same data our specialists use every day: your rates, lots, hours, permits, and policies. If a question falls outside that information, Ambassador hands off the call instead of guessing.

A person is always one step away. Callers can ask for a human at any point and get one. With Ambassador Live, that person is a trained Parker Technology specialist, held to the same training, QA, and accountability as the team that has handled exception calls for years. With Ambassador Assist, unresolved calls go to your own team, a voicemail, or a callback. Either way, a context note travels with the handoff, so callers never have to start their story over.

You stay in control. You decide where Ambassador runs: by site, by line, and by time of day. You can turn it off whenever you want. It works with any PARCS equipment, and your call history and business rules stay with you if you ever switch PARCS vendors.

Callers know who they’re talking to. Ambassador introduces itself as a digital assistant at the start of every call. Trust starts there.

Tested on Real Parking Calls Before It Goes Live

Every Ambassador capability is tested against real parking calls in real facilities before it goes live. Before we launch at a new site, we run scenario tests built on that operation’s own rules.

After each call, we check the basics. Did it give the right answer? How fast did it resolve? Did anything go wrong? AI calls go through the same QA process as our specialist calls.

We also took our time on the rollout. We piloted, phased, and brought customers live before we ever announced.

Today, Ambassador handles routine parking, wayfinding, office, and billing questions. At one live deployment, it filters roughly 85% of ghost calls before they reach a specialist.

Think about what that frees up.

What an AI Agent for Parking Should Do for Your Team

Ambassador exists so routine questions get answered in seconds, day or night, and your people have time for the calls that need judgment.

Motorists get a faster answer. Your team gets a lighter load. And a trained person is still there when it counts.

That’s the balance Parker Technology has always believed in. Technology takes on the repetitive work. People bring the judgment and care.

The best way to judge it is to hear it. Listen to real interaction recordings or schedule a demo with our team.
