At Parker Technology, we not only take pride in our work and delivering a quality product to our customers, but we also take pride in our team. We believe in creating a positive work environment to empower our employees to do great things. By setting core values and using them to guide us in everything we do, our team is motivated and inspired to show up each and every day, providing the best service possible to our customers.
Our Core Values
Our core values define who we are—they are the principles that we stand upon. By weaving these beliefs into everything we do, they have essentially become the genetic makeup that shapes our identity and company culture. Establishing them drives our team and how we operate, which is then reflected in how we show up for our customers.
Honesty & Integrity
Honesty and integrity are the main components of our values and are the foundation on which all of our other components stand. Everything we do is rooted within these qualities. They hold us accountable and ensure that we are the best versions of ourselves so that we can provide the best service to our customers.
Excellence in Communication
Open and honest feedback is key. By creating an internal culture where we can feel safe and comfortable having authentic conversations with one another, it promotes honesty and clarity in external communications with our customers as well. We believe that being a good listener and responding in a level-headed and compassionate manner is an integral part of having effective communication.
Servant’s Heart
Compassion and empathy are two elements that we highly value and are traits we believe are especially important for our leaders to embody. They should never hold their team to standards they do not apply for themselves. Having this mindset creates a more inclusive working environment where we see each other more as equals that all play an important role, rather than being above or beneath anyone. It allows us to value and appreciate our team and their hard work and to give credit where credit is due.
Going Above & Beyond
We should always strive to go that extra mile—for ourselves, for our team, and for our customers. Complacency kills motivation and ambition. We want our team to work hard and drive results, but we also know that in order to do so, having a good work-life balance is necessary. Our team is willing to go above and beyond because we respect them and understand that there is more to life than work. By creating a healthy work environment, we are happy to show up and work hard day-to-day.
Noble Intent
It is always better to assume the best rather than the worst. If you are jumping to negative conclusions and looking for reasons to doubt, you will find them. Instead, we believe in having a positive outlook and seeing the best in our team and in our customers. You never know what someone is going through and should always assume everyone is doing their best. This allows us to remain calm and solve problems in a more compassionate and efficient way.
Critical Thinking
In the parking industry, you’ve always got to be on your toes and ready to take action. Assuming that everything is black and white is not helpful. We pride ourselves on creating a team of critical thinkers that can handle whatever comes at them with honesty and compassion. We encourage our team to think outside the box and maintain an open mind. Adaptability is key.
Our Values in Action
Any company can come up with a set of values and post them up around the office or in the employee handbook, but it’s the ones that actually integrate their core values into everything they do that truly reap the rewards. The growth and success of a company depends on its people and how they are led. Having a leader that embodies the core values and sets a good example for their team is crucial. If your own leadership doesn’t uphold the company’s beliefs, then why should the rest of the team?
At Parker, we believe that creating an honest and hard-working team will only work if we provide good leadership. Every day our company leaders empower and motivate our team to accomplish great things by embodying all 6 of our core values.
When our President & CEO Brian Wolff first started, Parker had only 5 customers. Now, we have 114 customers, over 400 facilities, and operate in nearly 1,500 lanes across the country. All of this would never have been possible without Brian and the incredible leadership team he created. This team did it all by establishing those guiding principles and integrating them into all aspects of our company model and operations.
Below are just a few of many examples of how our leadership team promotes and exemplifies our core values:
- Encouraging open and honest feedback through weekly one-on-one meetings
- Addressing situations directly in a clear and compassionate manner
- Showing up and being friendly, present, and available for the team as opposed to flaunting their “position of power” and remaining closed off or unapproachable
- Using words of affirmation daily to show appreciation
- Wearing multiple hats to go above and beyond for the team by working hard and driving results
- Taking the time to get to know each team member individually to show appreciation for who they are as a person—valuing their role in the company but also caring about their personal time and work-life balance
- Communicating calmly and directly without assuming the worst or jumping to conclusions
- Encouraging the team to think outside of the box and try a new approach when necessary
